Tourisme Montréal celebrated the achievements of Montreal companies that contributed to the influence of the metropolis from January 2023 to February 2024 during its Distinction Awards evening, which took place this Tuesday. The event was held at the Grande Salle du 9e, which just opened its doors in Montreal.
“I am deeply impressed by the creativity and innovation of these Montreal companies, who are continuously redefining the standards of excellence in our tourism industry,” said Yves Lalumière, CEO of Tourisme Montréal, in a press release. I am also pleased to see that the shift towards sustainable development has become a priority shared by our entire tourism community. Together we shape a more responsible tourism future; this strengthens our position as a leading destination on the international stage. »
During this 2024 edition, several HRI players were recognized, three of whom received a Tribute Award that highlighted “their entire career and their exceptional contribution to the industry”: Caroline Proulx, Quebec Minister of Tourism, Liza Frulla, General Manager from the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality of Quebec and Georges Coulombe, president and founder of Gestion Georges Coulombe: Real Estate Group.
Tourisme Montréal also highlighted the importance of the concierge profession in welcoming visitors by awarding two $2,500 scholarships to Clefs d’Or Canada – International Union of Hotel Concierges – in the Montreal region. A first envelope is awarded to a concierge who wants to become a member of this prestigious organization, while the other is offered to a Clefs d’Or who wants to refine his training.
Finally, the Hôtel de l’ITHQ was rewarded for the development of its tourist offer and product, in the Accommodation category.
