Former Liberal minister and political analyst Marie Montpetit has just been appointed head of the Fédération des cégeps.
She becomes the first woman to hold the position of president and CEO within this federation, which represents the 48 public CEGEPs in the province.
Ms Montpetit, who was a Liberal MP from 2014 to 2022, notably served as Minister of Culture and Communications in Philippe Couillard’s government.
Until now, she has been a columnist and political analyst for the radio networks TVA, LCN and QUB.
His candidacy was selected for his strategic vision, ability to negotiate complex agreements and deep knowledge of Quebec’s government, it said.
Ms Montpetit will take office on July 2, succeeding Bernard Tremblay, who headed the Federation for more than nine years.
