Success for consultation on pathways that can lead to higher education

Promoting the different pathways that can lead to higher education and promoting the support offered to people who progress at all levels, from vocational training to university, is the mission that the regional centres for higher education recently set themselves -Québec. The two organizations organized events on May 7 and 10 with a total of 130 participants to explore the topic.

During these two days of consultation, entitled ‘Pathways to higher education: findings, challenges and possible solutions’, researchers, regional stakeholders and other key players in the field of education were able to exchange and deepen their knowledge. The first of these two meetings, organized by the Centre-du-Québec Higher Education Centre, took place at the Times Hotel in Drummondville, while the second, organized by the Mauricie Higher Education Center, took place at the Complexe Laviolette in Trois-Rivières.

These two events were marked by the presentation of a research project led by Professor Nadia Rousseau, from the Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (UQTR). The latter focuses on successful transitions to higher education and young people’s reflections on educational pathways. This project highlighted ten key categories that stimulated collective reflections.

“We are grateful to everyone who made these days possible and we look forward to continuing this partnership to create a better future for our students and our community,” said Cindy Lavoie, representative of the Central Regional Higher Education Center.
