In 2025, the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival (FMG) will offer a new “fun and interactive” museum experience about hot air balloons invented by the Montgolfier brothers nearly 250 years ago.
This innovative product is made possible thanks to the receipt, Monday, of a $1.12 million budget as part of the provincial government’s Tourism Industry Recovery Assistance Program.
The history of the hot air balloon, but also how it all works, is part of the museum experience that we develop
explains the chairman of the board of directors of the FMGMarie-Chantal Giguère.

Other digital projects, such as the nighttime lighting proposed since last year, could be added to the FMG, thanks to funding from Quebec.

This amount will also be used to develop digital and visual projects, such as the multimedia night lighting set up last year. The structure in the shape of a hot air balloon about 10 meters high, which was illuminated with shows every evening and served as a canvas for the projection of a 3D animated film, will also return this year.
The 37e FMG takes place from August 29 to September 2 in Parc de la Baie, in the Gatineau sector. Charlotte Cardin, Salebarbes and Souldia are among the headliners of the next version of the festival.
