(New York) The American brand Calvin Klein announced on Thursday its “imminent return to the catwalks” with the appointment of a new collection director, the Italian Veronica Leoni.
This forty-year-old designer worked at the houses Jil Sander, Celine, Moncler and The Row, before founding her own brand Quira.
“It was clear from our initial conversations that Veronica’s life’s work had prepared her for this moment and the opportunity to define a new era for Calvin Klein,” said brand director Eva Serrano.
Calvin Klein hasn’t staged a fashion show since March 2019, when the brand chose to focus on ready-to-wear for the masses.
The revival of Belgian designer Raf Simons had not translated into sales at the time. The parent company PVH, which also owns Tommy Hilfiger, had therefore closed the high-end subsidiary, called Calvin Klein 205W39NYC.
Veronica Leoni, also quoted in the press release, said she wanted to “place a strong emphasis on style and creativity.”

Calvin Klein, which was acquired by PVH from its founder in 2003, estimates that its branded products will have global retail sales of around $9 billion by 2023, a figure that remains stable compared to 2017.
The house itself announced revenues of $3.64 billion in the annual financial year ending February 4, up 4% on the previous year.
