This new super intimate spa in the Laurentians is perfect for a romantic getaway

How do you describe the new Calumet Falls site?

Firstly, it is located at the base of a large, absolutely breathtaking waterfall.

Second, it is very intimate, even hidden, on wooded property in the small village of Calumet, not far from Montebello.

Third, it has all the elements of a regular Scandinavian spa with sauna, steam room, infinity pool, hot tub, cold pool, terraces and glass pavilion.

In reality, Calumet Falls is a truly special luxury spa, but also – and above all – a wellness-focused retreat.

Spa for only 20 people

Brand new, Calumet Falls – Retraite & Spa opened its doors to the general public on April 18. You won’t find facials, manicures or other aesthetic offerings there. Here, owner Marc A. Le Gris emphasizes, we really focus on rejuvenation and connection with nature.

The installations – contemporary in style – are also designed to blend discreetly among the East Calumet River, the Laurentian forest and the rock walls of Calumet Falls (to which there is private access).

Currently it is possible to book blocks of 3 hours or 5 hours to enjoy the thermal experience. Only 20 people are allowed at a time, making it a true VIP spa and guaranteed tranquility.

Calumet Falls, visible everywhere, makes the experience particularly immersive. There is something very enveloping about the constant rumbling. And when you sit on the terrace at the foot of the cliff, you can really feel the drops on your skin!

Yoga, retreats and villa

Currently, the Calumet Falls calendar also includes yoga classes on certain days of the week, as well as longer retreats (“yoga and self-awareness” day or even weekends for couples).

If you are interested, you can also discover various personalized treatment rituals (massages, salt and mud baths, holistic treatments) and over the months, yoga and meditation sessions should be added to the regular program. Do not hesitate to inquire about the options when you book access to the thermal experience.

And if you want to spend the night there instead of hitting the road again, know that it is possible.

You can reserve a room in the Calumet Falls ‘villa’, a large brick house located on the property, just off Route 148. Driving past you might not suspect that this is an intimate hotel, but it is indeed the case . . There are three modern suites available for rental. Enough to continue the disconnect!

  • The price for spa access is $119 for 3 hours or $199 for 5 hours.
  • Calumet Falls is a 1-hour drive from Montreal and Ottawa.
