It has been twenty years since a steam train ran the line between Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) and Langogne (Lozère) through the gorges of the Allier. Travelers are amazed.
The scenery is breathtaking and yet it takes enough to keep the train moving. In the locomotive cabin, silence and concentration to maintain the rhythm. The passengers want to relax before the journey back in time. Between Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) and the gorges of the Allier, 160 km with a train that has not run here for twenty years. Every stop at the station is an event, there are countless steam train admirers who attend every little mechanics lesson.
The people who operate the train are volunteers. They restored the locomotive and wagons themselves, which date from the 1920s to the 1970s. The “Auvergne Steam Train” travels at 50 km/hour through nature, all the way to the wagon bar. The next trip by train is already planned for next summer.
